Boston, Massachusetts Au Pair Cluster Activities
Each month, our Au Pair USA Local Coordinators throughout the Boston, MA area arrange meetings and social events for au pairs. Local coordinators Mary Ann Armstrong, Adrienne Hindley, and Lisbeth Ceriani share some of the recent events:
June: Day trip to Newport, Rhode Island
Our au pairs got to see one of Rhode Island’s most beautiful seaports! We toured exquisite mansions of the rich and famous, shopped in the many funky, trendy shops, ate at one of the casual, seaside cafe’s, and indulged in an ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s!
July: Day trip to Rockport, MA
We spent another beautiful summer day in one of Massachusetts’s most beautiful seaports. We spent time just walking around, doing some shopping, and scoping out some great beaches for the rest of the summer!
August: Au Pair/Host Family Lake Party
The party was attended by au pairs, host parents, and the kids. Everyone came to meet other families and friends and have a great time. We spent the day swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and having lots of fun. Each au pair/family group brought an appetizer/finger food or dessert to share.
September: Smuggler’s Notch Resort in Stowe, Vermont
Now we know why Vermont is known as the most beautiful state in the country in the fall! We met at 8 a.m. Saturday morning and drove about three hours north to Vermont. Smuggler’s Notch Resort is surrounded by mountains, where there was plenty to explore. The resort also had a heated pool and hot tub, so the au pairs brought their bathing suits as well as their cameras!
October: Day trip to Salem, MA
What better place to spend Halloween time than in Salem, Massachusetts, home of America’s famous witch trials of the 1600's? This beautiful seaport city is full of history, and we learned a lot upon arrival at the Visitor Center. There were lots of historic reenactments to entertain us, and it was a charming place to visit.
November: Starbucks Coffee
We all met up for a cup of coffee and some sweets, and just took some time to chat with friends and other au pairs. We reviewed the classes that all the au pairs were taking, and talked about how things were going, before we hit the awesome bookstore upstairs to do a little shopping!
December: Annual Christmas Party
A festive evening with good music, good friends, and good food. We played a fun game called the “Yankee Swap”. Everyone brought a gift, wrapped with no tags, worth about $15. Gifts were swapped around in a hysterical game. In this game, you make sure to bring something you really like as you just might end up with it! Au pairs were welcome to bring their friends along – as always, the more the merrier!
