Message for the Parents of Au Pairs

Spending a year in America is a wonderful opportunity for your son or daughter. Being an au pair and living in the United States allows young men and women to mature, learn independence, improve their English, and learn important skills that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. It allows them the opportunity to live with an American family and experience the culture firsthand.

InterExchange has over 35 years of experience in cultural exchange programs. We have a caring and hands-on staff, dedicated to making sure that each your child's experience is a positive one.  From our International Cooperators in your home country, to our New York office, and all the way out to our “in-the-field” Local Coordinators who live near all of our au pairs and host families, your son or daughter will have the continuous and unfailing support of our staff throughout the application process, until the day that they return home at the end of their program.

InterExchange Au Pair USA ensures a safe and legal way for your son or daughter to become an au pair. We are governed by the United States Department of State (we were one of the first au pair agencies to be sponsored by the U.S. Department of State), and are monitored closely to ensure we are meeting their very specific and strict requirements.

child care training childcare in home live inAll au pairs undergo a 4-day/5-night Au Pair Orientation and Training program near our home office in New York City before traveling to their host family.

The Au Pair Orientation and Training program includes:

  • Important program information
  • A Red Cross licensed instructor to teach health and safety
  • Sections on culture shock, adapting to American culture, and childcare
  • Answering any and all questions that the au pair might have, which will be covered in the question and answer section of every seminar

After the au pairs reach their host family, our local coordinators are there, along with their cluster of au pairs, to welcome and embrace your son or daughter.

InterExchange is dedicated to ensuring that your son or daughter gets as much out of this experience as possible, and you can be assured that they will be joining one of the most reputable agencies in the au pair business.
