An Au Pair USA Local Coordinator Jobs -
Roles and Responsibilities
The Local Coordinator plays an important role in the Au Pair USA program. A Local Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to be the local representative of the Au Pair USA program, providing support to the group, or cluster, of Host Families and Au Pairs in their geographic coverage area.
The Local Coordinator position is multi-faceted; it requires the Coordinator to assume a variety of roles, including marketer, mediator, advocate and group
leader. It is a challenging, yet rewarding position. Many Local Coordinators develop lasting friendships with the Host Families and Au Pairs in their cluster, and they also have the satisfaction of being an integral part of a positive cultural exchange experience. Local Coordinators are independent contractors who work independently to promote the program, and ensure that all program participants are following State Department guidelines.
Local Coordinator responsibilities include:
- Publicize and promote the Au Pair USA program on a local level
- Research new growth opportunities and markets for the program
- Interview prospective Host Families
- Assist Host Families in matching with a new Au Pair
- Call and visit new Au Pairs upon arrival
- Communicate with each Host Family at least once every month, and foster rapport with host families and au pairs
- Organize “Cluster Meetings” – group meetings for all Au Pairs in the cluster – on a monthly basis
- Organize “Host Family Day” meetings, or events, for all Host Parents in the cluster – twice per year
- Ensure that families and au pairs are meeting the education requirements
- Manage, in conjunction with the New York office, Au Pair and Host Family reassignments
- Facilitate the Au Pair and Host Family’s relationship by helping them address any challenges that arise, and mediate, if necessary, successful communication between both parties
- Maintain communication with the New York office
In order to facilitate communication with the New York office, as well as potential host families, Local Coordinators should be comfortable using email and other internet-based communication methods. Some public speaking experience is helpful. Local coordinators should be familiar with their region, and keep up to date on family resources and competitive influences in their cluster area.
