Rhode Island is one of a cluster of states in the Northeastern United States known as "New England".  Rhode Island itself is a very small state, only 48 miles long by 37 miles wide.

Rhode Island is known for it's beautiful and scenic beaches. Rhode Island has a long coastline bordering the Atlantic Ocean, and the state is nicknamed "The Ocean State". Sailing, boating, fishing, kayaking, cruising, swimming and seal watching are a few of the popular local activities.  Rhode Island has also preserved much of it's rich and colorful New England history, with beautiful historic homes, fishing villages and lighthouses.  Because Rhode Island is so small, it's very easy to make day trips by car to many of the major northeast cities.  It's only 60 miles to Boston, 180 miles to New York City and 350 miles to get to Montreal, Canada.

Au pairs will enjoy all four seasons in Rhode Island.  The warmest months of the year are April through October. Near the end of May, it will start reaching 70 -80 degrees - perfect temperatures for the beach. Temperatures begin to cool off again in mid-September. The fall is especially beautiful when the leaves are changing. The colors are breathtaking!

Block Island is an 11-square mile resort community approximately 12 miles off the coast of Rhode Island. It can only be reached by ferry boat or airplane, which helps the island keep it's quiet and unspoiled charm. The town of Old Harbor is the center of the community, with many shops and restaurants. There are long public beaches, walking and hiking paths through grassy meadows, quiet woods and bicycle trails.

Monthly au pair meetings are an opportunity to meet with other au pairs, learn a new skill, and plan activities. There are also monthly social events.

Au Pairs receive:

  • J-1 Visa sponsorship from a trusted and experienced organization

  • Orientation and training in New York City
