Au Pair USA has a very active cluster of au pairs and host families in Southern California and the San Diego area. Each month, Au Pair USA Local Coordinators work with host families, helping them with the matching process and answering their questions about the program. They also arrange monthly meetings and social events for au pairs to help them build friendships and adjust to life in the United States.

Dina's community of au pairs and host families includes San Diego, Chula Vista, La Mesa, Spring Valley, Carlsbad, El Cajon, Escondido, Coronado, Encinitas, La Jolla and many more areas around San Diego County.

About Dina:

I have been married since 1999 and have two children. My husband Chuck and I welcomed our son Kaden into this world in November 2001 and our daughter Kendall came three years later in November 2004. We also have two dogs. My husband and I own a retail clothing and embroidery store that he runs with the help of a few employees. Our children are our world and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to be a stay at home mother. Before I had my own children I was an elementary school teacher so I have a lot of experience working with young children.

I became the Local Coordinator here in San Diego after being a host family to a Swedish Au pair. It was such a great opportunity to have someone from another country become a part of our family. Our experience was so great that I wanted to do more to help others have as good of an experience as I had. I also lived in London, England for one year as an exchange student so I know how it is to be far from home and learning to adjust to a culture different from your own.

I love to travel and have been very fortunate in the places I have had the opportunity to visit and live. Some of the places I have been to include Italy, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Australia, Poland, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, France, Mexico, Scotland, Prague, France, and Switzerland.

About Dina's Cluster:

  • Our cluster area is the farthest south county in California. We border Baja California, making us minutes away from Mexico. You can lie on the beach, drive up in the mountains, and see the desert all in one day.
  • This area has many great activities. Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Lego Land, and The Wild Animal Park are right here in San Diego. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, and Six Flags amusement parks are all not far away.

  • Our climate is moderate with the summer temperatures averaging
    76° F/ 22° C,
    and winter temperatures averaging
    62° F/15° C.
