Denver, Colorado Au Pair Cluster Activities
For families and au pairs in the Denver, Littleton, Arvada, Aurora and Castle Rock areas.
Provided by the
Patti Hughes cluster
Each month, Au Pair USA Local Coordinators arrange meetings and social events for au pairs.
Recent events included:
Ski/Snowboard/Ice Skating - For the complete "Rocky Mountain Experience" we head up to the High Country to one of the Colorado ski resorts, usually Copper Mountain or Breckenridge, for a fun day in the snow. Skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, tubing, snowshoeing, or just shopping are all available. It's a really memorable day, and the au pairs have a great time, and take lots of pictures.
Salsa Dancing Lessons - A local Mexican restaurant offers free salsa dancing lessons on Tuesday evenings. A great way to kick back with other au pairs, meet new people, and learn some hot new moves.

Hiking Trip - We had a great time on our day-hike through Rocky Mountain State Park. We trekked about 3-4 miles on a beautiful trail, then stopped for a picnic lunch by a scenic overlook, before hiking back.
Rodeo - In January, we arrange to go to the Mexican Rodeo at the National Western Stock Show. Events included bronco bustin', bull riding, lots of colorful Mexican dancing, rope tricks and other cowboy competitions.

Rafting Trip - Every June, we raft the Cache La Poudre River in northern Colorado. This is an exciting whitewater experience and au pairs usually regard this "meeting" as one of the highlights of the year. Hiking is offered to those who don't want to raft, although last year there were several rattlesnakes on the trail.
Halloween Pumpkin Carving - We celebrate Halloween, and get our creative juices flowing, with a pumpkin carving party at Patti's house.
Holiday Gift Exchange - Every year, we host a special holiday party for the au pairs so they can exchange "secret santa" gifts to eachother, and enjoy some holiday cookies and desserts.
